Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Pittsburgh, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 2 days a week. Typical hours are 5β10 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Soba at (412) 362-5656; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, soba.kitchen.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 725 reviews, which is a strong result for a pan-asian restaurant in Pittsburgh and suggests consistent service.
Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Visited Soba in Shadyside for a birthday celebration. Put simply, it measured up! The atmosphere is sublime, and the food is top notch. Already looking forward to another visit.

Soba offers some great culinary variety and has a well designed, modern space that isnβt overcrowded. Prices range but arenβt unreasonable an actually may sit a bit below the rank that Maps has given ($50-100 per person feels actually higher than needed, which I would rarely say honestly). So you may be able to be quite satisfied here in the 30-60 range. Sushi options are limited but some strong plays in the other entrees seem to make up for it. The softshell crab is a delightful dish with a rich elegant sauce that bats above its weight. Some of the other sauces leave a bit to be desired. The soy sauce feels a bit watered down and I worry about artificial inclusions in some of the staple offerings, but itβs hard to tell without any real sourcing or sustainability guidelines present. Would love to see that in the future. Service wasnβt rushed, and the waiters are knowledgeable about the menu + happy to shift things around to meet diner needs. If youβre in a rush, you may find it a bit slow but that isnβt affecting my review. Parking is limited but valet is offered at no charge which is great. Some things to work on but definitely not shabby overall and we left quite pleasantly f

An exceptionally refined dining experience from start to finish. My husband took me here for dinner, and we were thoroughly impressed by every detail β from the ambiance to the presentation. The atmosphere exuded understated luxury, creating the perfect setting for an intimate evening. The sushi was beautifully prepared and impeccably fresh, each piece thoughtfully composed with balance and precision. While the California roll did not quite meet the same standard for us, the overall culinary execution was outstanding. We concluded the evening with the tiramisu, which was exquisite β delicately layered, indulgent yet light, and the perfect finale to an elegant meal. A truly memorable experience that we greatly enjoyed.

Super easy to get to, and very much appreciated the valet parking as weβre not from Pitt and lots of street parking was unavailable due to the snow. We chose the four course Valentineβs Day menu and did not regret it at all!!! There were 3 options for each course. Every course was amazing and we loved trying each otherβs options, although we both got the filet, because who can resist a filet??? His dessert was really good, but mine was AMAZING!!

We had an incredible meal at Soba! If you are looking for unique Pan-Asian flavors in Pittsburgh, this is the spot. Everything we ordered tasted amazing, and we were really impressed by the generous portion sizes and the lightning-fast, attentive service. A few highlights from our meal: Roasted Cauliflower: Roasted to absolute perfection. The chili oil dressing added the perfect kickβhighly recommend! Chopped Salad: Honestly one of the best salads Iβve had. The papaya pieces were fresh, and the crunchy topping added a great texture. Thai Curry with Crunchy Noodles: Rich, flavorful, and the crunch from the noodles made it stand out. Kid-Friendly: Our kid absolutely loved the edamame. The portion was huge, and she still managed to polished off almost the entire thing! Great atmosphere and even better food. We will definitely be back!
